First Presbyterian Church supports The Ministry Center through volunteer work and financial support. The Ministry Center is Nodaway County’s food and clothing pantry. We have found many blessings as we serve the community this way. See more at wwww.nodawayministrycenter.org (link)
Other mission endeavors we support:
Locally: Christmas in the Summertime, Adopt a family, Camp Quality, Utility Assistance Fund, Brown Bag Lunch Program (The Ministry Center).
Regionally: Heartland Presbyterian Mission Programs
Internationally: Presbyterian Church (USA) mission programs: One Great Hour of Sharing, Christmas Joy Offering
Travelling Day Camp has been a
great success with lots of fun along with
learning about God's love and the Bible.
The Road Student Ministries (middle school through high school) joins with the youth at First United Methodist Church. Chris Komorech from FUMC works to deepen students’ faith by God’s grace. Each month, students engage in community service, fellowship, sharing time together, and deepening their faith through discussion. Come check out what is happening!
First Presbyterian Church offers discipleship discussions and learning. We gather Sunday mornings from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (except for summer break). Adults can choose from an in depth Bible study or Bible survey.
During the Lenten Season, we have Soup Suppers on Wednesday evenings. After a brief meal of soup and bread, Pastor Jonathan leads a discussion on important questions about faith, God and what it means to be a follower of Jesus in our world.
Worship is the center of who we are as Presbyterians.
We have a traditional worship style in our sanctuary
with beautiful stained glass windows and organ. Each
week we gather as a family to share our journeys of
faith. If you come as a visitor, you will depart as a friend.
As a family of faith, the folks of First Presbyterian Church love spending time together. The Caring Quilters and What's Brewing meet weekly. The First Saturday of the month is the Men's Breakfast.
We have potlucks after worship throughout the year and the following special celebrations:
Worship in the Park June
Block Party September
Hanging of the Greens November
Wednesday Soup Suppers Lent
The Chocolate Festival
Each February on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day we have the Chocolate Festival. It is a fundraiser for local missions. Come and enjoy some treats in the tasting room. Then shop and take home your favorite chocolate goodies. We have everything from chocolate covered cherries to fudge nut clusters. The decorating theme is different each year. This is a great time to gather, socialize and spend time with family and friends.
